With each passing moment, the share of Ice Cream Sandwich OS in the market is increasing. Perhaps after some time, the majority of droids will run on the Android v4.0. In the past also, we have witnessed that the new software picks up momentum and get hold of the total market share.

At the moment, Ice Cream Sandwich is present in 7.1% of Android-running gizmos, a significant increase from the 4.9% witnessed in previous month's data. Android v2.3 a.k.a. Gingerbread, which in its initial stage was at the point where ICS stands now, controls a whopping market share of 64.6% leading the smartphone market, and an augment of around 0.6% from last month. The data utilized for these stats arrive from the previous fourteen days concluding on June 1st.

The boost in Android 4.0 usage over the previous month is perhaps because of the arrival of a number of fresh ICS-running smartphones like the HTC One line up along with the upgrades being released to some old models. Android v2.2 still has some control over the market. As a matter of fact, one in every five droid units runs on this platform. However, the share of the Froyo-running models will continue to decrease in the future as more consumers are moving on to newer options.

The Honeycomb controls 2.7% market share at the moment. Now, more and more tablets are coming with ICS on-board. Anyway, smartphones running on Android 1.5 to 2.1 constitutes around 6.1 % of the total technology market.
